Yee Sang
Served only during the Chinese New Year - this dish is known as “Yee Sang”, which means ‘easy to prosper’.
Everyone at the table joins in with chopsticks to toss and mix the huge dish. It is a joyous and noisy moment as all mix the dish vigorously whilst at the same time shouting good wishes for luck and prosperity in the New Year. The customary belief is that the higher you toss, the more prosperous you get. So it can get rather messy in the enthusiasm!

Street Food in Penang
Malaysia is pretty famous for its street food. Anthony Bourdain raved about Penang food in No Reservations.

Chicken Wings in Jalan Alor
Wong Ah Wah chicken wings started as a mere little stall in Jalan Alor in Kuala Lumpur. Business has been so good that there are now five restaurants in a row on that street, the name now emblazoned proudly on signboards. An amazing feat.
The street used to a quiet foodie haunt. It’s now a bustling tourist favourite - not my kind of place anymore, with the crowd - but good for photo opportunities. And wings.
